FIELD TEST FEEDBACK:

THE SEAMLESS SHIRT

Constant iteration is at the heart of everything we do. That's why we’re in a continuous state of development and always researching new ways to deliver the highest quality gear.

Last month, 1,000 customers put our latest Field Test prototype to the test and through the wringer. We designed our Seamless Shirt in a way that we believed solves for the pain points of our competitors' offerings. But while we may think that, there's only one opinion that truly matters: yours.

We were thrilled to see so many of you come back to us with feedback, both good and bad, as your input is a critical component of our product development process. Keep reading to check out what our Field Test participants had to say about this prototype.

80% of Field Testers loved the Seamless Shirt and want to see it become a permanent part of Ten Thousand's shirt lineup.

THE SURVEY STATS

THE RESULTS ARE IN

After putting the Seamless Shirt prototype through its paces, we asked our 1,000 field testers to give the shirt an overall rating. The average score was 8.4, with 90% of people giving it a 7 or higher and only 35 participants giving the shirt a 6 or below. Given the frustrations our customers have expressed to us about our competitors’ seamless offerings, we were excited by the strong interest in adding a Seamless Shirt to our product offering.

FIELD TESTER FAVORITES

79% BREATHABILITY

72% COMFORT

63% FIT

63% AESTHETIC

When asked to pick their favorite thing about our Seamless Shirt prototype, breathability was the top choice, with comfort trailing closely behind. To allow for max breathability, we put a significant amount of effort into improving airflow, constructing our prototype using an advanced TR1 Seamless Knit Machine that allows real mesh hole construction and our field testers found this to be a crucial differentiator.

MORE DURABLE THAN MOST

Many athletes find seamless shirts too thin and quick to tear, which is why they often resort to a more resilient shirt while they're getting after it. We tried to solve for this common frustration by including strategically placed seamless non-mesh zones to improve durability. This appeared to be an effective solution, as our field testers gave durability an average rating of 8.3 and 92% of people rated it 7 or above.

ENHANCED BREATHABILITY

Most seamless tops are constructed with fake mesh holes which don't allow for very much airflow. Our field testers found our prototype to be significantly more breathable due to its real mesh hole construction made using a TR1 Seamless Knit Machine. Not only was breathability voted as the shirt's best quality, but it was also given the highest rating, with an average of 8.6. This feedback emphasizes the importance of breathability in training shirts of all kinds.

SHAPE RETENTION IMPROVED, NOT PERFECTED

Over time, seamless shirts are known to stretch out, and athletes complain that their oftentimes pricey workout shirts don't last past a few wears. We tried to solve for this by incorporating stability construction into our design. Although this helped, we will have to improve this attribute if we decide to include the Seamless Shirt in our line, as shape retention had the lowest rating with only 83.1% of respondents giving it above a 7.

TESTED ACROSS TRAINING MODALITIES

76% GENERAL GYM USE

70% HIIT

55% RUNNING

55% CROSSFIT

48% LIFTING

Our diverse group of field testers put the Seamless Shirt to the test with a variety of training modalities. Although designed as a versatile, all-around training shirt, the high response rates for HIIT and running reflect the high importance and rating of breathability.
