Q: WHAT PIECE OF ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE YOUR TWENTY-YEAR OLD SELF?

Make sure all your actions are pure and selfless. It’s the only way for everything to fall into its own perfect place.

Q: WHAT'S THE ONE WORKOUT YOU ALWAYS DREAD? WHAT'S THE ONE WORKOUT YOU ALWAYS LOOK FORWARD TO? WHY?

It’s only a love/hate relationship with the jump rope. I love it because it’s the purest form of conditioning and a total body burner, but I hate them because when fatigue creeps in and alight mess up happens, the jump rope gives me an instant reminder on my shin that there’s no such thing as 99%, it’s either perfect or fail.

Q: WITH ANY NEW MODALITY YOU GET INTO, HOW DO YOU APPROACH IT IN ORDER TO MASTER?

Easy, I first allow myself to have the necessary space to be a novice. I ask questions, I look for commonalities in application and I practice. I don’t try to “master” anything, but instead aim to improve. Over time, I end up exactly where I should be.

Q: WHAT LESSONS HAVE YOU LEARNED FROM FITNESS THAT HAVE SERVED YOU THROUGHOUT YOUR LIFE?

The work comes first. In fitness, like life, most of the goals are on the other end of the work, so once the plan is in place, GO!

Q: WHAT IDEA, PERSON OR BOOK HAS BEEN THE MOST INFLUENTIAL IN YOUR LIFE? WHY?

The idea that “consistency will separate us all in the end” is something that I’ve been inspired by time and time again when I get to the tough moments or even when I find myself falling in the lull of mundane task. I try my hardest to keep myself in the present moment and locked in, to the minor details that eventually are responsible for the bigger picture.

Q: WHAT'S ON YOUR FITNESS BUCKET LIST?

I’d say either open water swimming or like a 25+ mile hike with a breath-taking view

Q: DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE FAILURE? HOW HAS THAT SET YOU UP FOR LATER SUCCESS?

I don’t know that I would say that I have a favorite failure, instead I would say that the many lessons that came from things that never worked out how I originally planned them have now paved the way for me to be living the dream that I currently am.

Q: WHY DO YOU PRIORITIZE FITNESS IN YOUR LIFE?

For me, It’s the foundation that everything else in life is built on
